20-Day Overland Itinerary

Day 01 Arrival in Kathmandu

Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. You will be greeted by our team and transferred to your hotel for rest and briefing.
Day 02 Kathmandu to Dhangadhi & Dadeldhura

Take a one-hour domestic flight from Kathmandu to Dhangadhi. Upon arrival, immediately drive to Dadeldhura (1,901m) in the far western region. This historic area was the kingdom of the last Malla King and boasts a unique local dialect and culture distinct from the rest of Nepal. Visit the famous Ugratara temple.
Day 03 The Far-Western Circuit

A massive day of exploration. Drive through Dipayal to witness the historic Saileshwori temple, continue to Chainpur (the gateway to Khaptad), and visit the incredibly biodiverse Ghodaghodi Tal wetlands—home to Bengal tigers, crocodiles, and migratory Siberian birds. Finally, drive through Tikapur and return to Dhangadhi for the night.
Day 04 Dhangadhi to Bardiya National Park

Drive to Bardiya National Park, situated on the eastern bank of the Karnali River. Far wilder and less explored than Chitwan, this is prime habitat for Tigers, Gharials, and Leopards. Enjoy a cultural village tour, visit the Tharu museum, and explore the crocodile breeding center.
Day 05 Deep Jungle Exploration in Bardiya

Spend the entire day immersed in the wilderness. Engage in a guided Elephant safari and a deep jungle trek to track the elusive wildlife of the Bhabhar slopes.
Day 06 The Mid-Western Highlands

Drive to Salyan, famous for its hand-woven Thetuwa cloth and historic forts. Continue to Ghorahi in the Dang district, the cultural origin point of the indigenous Tharu people. Drive onward to Swargadwari (“Gateway to Heaven”), a massive pilgrimage site, before finishing the day in Liwang (1,372m), a historic Magar settlement.
Day 07 Liwang to Lumbini

Drive south to the plains of Rupandehi to reach Lumbini (102m), the sacred birthplace of Lord Buddha. Explore the restored gardens, ancient stupas, monasteries, and the historic stone pillar erected by Emperor Ashoka in 250 B.C.
Day 08 Lumbini to Tansen & Sirubari

Drive to Tansen, an incredibly scenic hill town featuring classical Newari architecture and sweeping views of the Madi valley. Continue to Sirubari (1,700m), a pristine Gurung village that serves as a model for sustainable community-based tourism, offering stunning views of the Annapurna and Machhapuchhre ranges.
Day 09 Sirubari to Bandipur

Drive to the hilltop settlement of Bandipur (1,005m). This beautifully preserved town has retained its age-old cultural attributes, temple shrines, and sacred caves. Enjoy magnificent panoramic views of the Langtang, Ganesh, Manaslu, and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges.
Day 10 Bandipur to Beshisahar & Ghalegaun

Drive through Beshisahar (the gateway to the Annapurna Circuit) and ascend to Ghalegaun (2,000m). Recognized as one of the most beautiful villages in South Asia, it offers breathtaking views of the Manaslu range. Experience authentic Gurung cultural dances and ancient traditions.
Day 11 Ghalegaun to Gorkha & Chitwan

Drive to Gorkha, the ancestral home of the Shah dynasty and the original Gurkha soldiers. Visit the ancient Gorkha Palace Durbar. Descend back to the Terai plains to arrive in Chitwan (200m), another major hub for wildlife and Tharu culture.
Day 12 Chitwan to Janakpur

Drive east to Janakpur (67m), the heartland of ancient Mithila culture. Explore the stunning 17th-century Mughal-style Janaki Temple, built entirely of marble, and visit the numerous sacred ponds and Hindu shrines dedicated to Lord Rama and Sita.
Day 13 Janakpur to Koshi Tappu

Drive to the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve, situated on the floodplains of the Sapta Koshi River. This reserve is a spectacular bird-watching sanctuary, boasting over 200 species of birds, wild buffalo, spotted deer, and wild boar.
Day 14 Koshi Tappu to Ilam

Ascend to Ilam (1,208m), famously known as the “Land of Sunrise.” Located in the far east of Nepal, this economically vibrant district is renowned for its rolling, emerald-green tea estates, cardamom farms, and deep Limbu cultural heritage.
Day 15 Ilam to Bhedetar

Drive to Bhedetar (1,430m), a stunning hill station overlooking the plains of the Terai and the Sapta Koshi River. Visit “Charles’ Point,” the famous vantage point named after Prince Charles, offering panoramic views of both the Himalayas and the southern plains.
Day 16 Exploration of the Eastern Hills

Spend the day exploring the beautiful surrounding areas of Bhedetar. Visit the historic Limbu kingdom ruins at Rajarani, the rhododendron forests of Uttarpani, and the lush, scenic ridgelines of Sinduwa.
Day 17 Bhedetar to Daman

Begin the journey back westward, driving up to Daman (2,400m) in the Makwanpur district. Daman is globally famous for commanding one of the most breathtaking, uninterrupted panoramic views of the entire Himalayan range from east to west.
Day 18 Daman to Kathmandu

After a final mountain sunrise and breakfast in Daman, execute the final overland drive back into the Kathmandu Valley.
Day 19 Kathmandu Valley Heritage Tour

A full day exploring the ancient, medieval outskirts of the valley. Visit the historic hilltop university town of Kirtipur, the traditional farming village of Khokana, the 16th-century religious site of Bungamati, and the sacred Buddhist and Hindu pilgrimage caves of Pharping.
Day 20 Final Departure

Your monumental trans-national expedition concludes. Transfer to the international airport for your onward journey.
